Risks & mitigants — attack your own pitch

The street template ends every pitch with risks and mitigants — the section that proves the analyst attacked their own work. The honest version is built from two disciplines you already have: the falsifier (what future filed evidence would break the read) and the audit habit (the evidence has to sit on a filed line, not in a mood).

One habit from the street's version is excluded deliberately: closing a risk with “priced in.” That is a claim about the market price — a leg this screen has never displayed. The honest close names the filed evidence that would absorb the risk, and the future filing where you would watch it.

Three moves, each on evidence: the RISK, located on a filed line you name; the MITIGANT, drawn from what the filings show — the mix, pricing power, the balance sheet; and the WATCH — the coming 10-KDefinitionForm 10-KThe audited annual report a US public company files with the SEC — the most complete single document about a business: audited financial statements, management's discussion, risk factors, and the auditor's own opinion.
